Preheat oven to 220°C/200°C fan-forced. Grease and line a baking tray with baking paper. Add chips to tray. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook, stirring, for 5-8 minutes or until golden brown and soft. Transfer to a plate. Add burger patties to pan and cook for 2-3 minutes each side or until browned and cooked. Top with cheese. Cover with lid. Remove from heat. Stand for 3 minutes or until cheese melts.
Prepare slaw kit following packet instructions.
Top buns with half of the sauce, then slaw, patty and onion. Top with remaining sauce and remaining buns. Serve with chips.
